my dorothy hoover has created a brilliant show: a still-volcano-life, inspired by anne carson’s autobiography of red. the set is gorgeous, geryon and herakles are incredibly well cast, and dorothy’s directorial/authorial choices are provocative and precise.
glad to have had an afternoon wander from echo park to skid row with cass mccombs, who just got back from a european tour last week. nice to wander with someone who knows the city – nice to wander with cass outside of weather and anyone. he said that the fragment of his i’ve had in my head since new year’s eve is ‘home on the range’
